Chitlapakam rising movement was dedicated to the rejuvenation of its namesake Lake. A Chitlapakam rising movement is a group of volunteers who are dedicated to cleaning up its neighborhood lake and restoring it to its former glory.
The goal was to rejuvenate the Chitlapakkam Lake.
Chitlapakkam lake is the uppermost tank in the Keelkattalai cluster of water bodies and was originally used for irrigation, with an ayacut area of 219 acres. It helps the welfare associations to help clean up the lake, which the Tamil Nadu Government ordered to be done.
